At Golden Gate Integral Counseling Center, we are dedicated providing affordable professional psychotherapy in a relationship of trust and respect to individual adults, children, couples, and families living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Individual therapy is a weekly, one-to-one meeting with a therapist for the purpose of reducing internal suffering due to behavior, feelings, beliefs, relationships or past experiences. Ongoing psychotherapy is also a common and useful means of self-growth and self-actualization.
Couples therapy, helps couples — married or not — understand and resolve conflicts and improve their relationship. Couples therapy gives couples the tools to communicate better, negotiate differences, problem solve and even argue in a healthier way. Some common concerns Couples Therapy addresses are:
Repetitive fights and/or withdrawal
Problems with intimacy and trust
Feelings of betrayal
Questions about commitment
Desire for premarital counseling
Substance abuse and codependency
Current life crises and stressful life transitions
Cross cultural issues
Assistance with separation, divorce and co-parenting
Group therapy is a type of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several individuals at the same time. Our groups generally involve six to twelve people. However, size may vary. Groups typically meet once, or sometimes twice, each week for between one and two hours. Please check the links for current groups.
With five counseling centers across the city, each with its own specialty, CIIS has expertise in a wide range of ‘therapeutic orientations,’ including somatic, transpersonal, psychodynamic, and gestalt, as well as more conventional modes of psychotherapy. The holistic approach and alternative fee system make CIIS an ideal counseling center for a city like San Francisco.
